Senior Marketing Solutions Engineer (March ’06 – Present)

  • Maintained and supported a portfolio of technologies used by the CMT servicing blue-chip, multi-channel retailers across all key digital marketing channels (paid and natural search, affiliate, social media, display, email and mobile).
  • Built and maintained effective working relationships with a range of people, including the CMT, a range of 3rd Party technology suppliers, internal development teams based in Prague and a team of outsourced developers based in Argentina.
  • Led a partnership roadmap with DC Storm, the primary marketing tracking and analytical system used by Summit, which allowed DC Storm to improve their product with close customer feedback, while Summit would benefit from custom features and early releases.
  • Identified and applied opportunities to conceive, requirement gather, specify, project management, and deliver in house applications used by the CMT, including several award winning solutions (In-House affiliate platform, shopping comparison feed management application, display tracking solution, offline sales tracking).
  • Translation of analytics statistics into actionable information for use by the CMT using a proficiency in using Excel and SQL Databases to analyse, manipulate, and interpret large amounts of data.
  • Working directly with COO, CTO, Client Directors and Product Leadership Team to understand the company strategy and contribute to the global technology strategy of the company.
Key Awards and Achievements within role:
  • Proved the value of the Carpetright eCommerce platform by creating a bespoke offline tracking solution integrated between the website with their stores. This resulted in an increase of online marketing spend from £0 to £2.5M in 18 months and the technology winning the Retail Systems Website of the Year for 2010.
  • Transformed creative ideas of the client by lead developing, project managing and co-ordinating the launch of Three Mobiles in-house affiliate program, which has subsequently tracked 1 million sales across more than 3,000 affiliate partners.
  • Product owner within the delivery team of Portfolio Manager (SaaS), which included adding ideas to the roadmap, specifying requirements to the business analyst as well as testing releases with the use of the out-sourced development team in Argentina, which included 4 weeks working directly with the team in Buenos Aries. Portfolio Manager achieved success for Comet when Summit took over the management of their paid search account. Within 24 hours of starting to manage the account, product-based AdGroups were live within Google for the full range of over 7,000 products for the first.
    • Keywords increased from 13,000 to over 500,000
    • AdGroups increased from 2,600 to over 15,000
  • The impact of the Portfolio Manager led to a quick step-change in both increased revenue and lower Cost of Sale.

  • To increase the profile of the live music scene in Hull the website was put together to allow both venues and promoters of Hull to advertise their gigs using an easy to follow administrator area.
  • The website has gained a good following within the hull community and is still in use to this day using primarily the same code from the initial 5 day project.
